Translating Climate Innovation into Action
I'm a climate innovation strategist focused on building and implementing sustainability programs in complex organizations. By combining analytical assessment with practical implementation experience, I help translate climate and ESG considerations into actionable strategies.
Current Focus
At Oxford Properties, the real estate investment arm of the OMERS pension fund, joined a newly-formed sustainable investing team where we've built our ESG program from the ground up across an $81B global portfolio. My role focuses on strategic implementation - from developing frameworks for assessing climate risks and opportunities to engaging with portfolio companies on sustainability initiatives.
Key initiatives:
Building and implementing our physical climate risk assessment program from concept to operation
Managing ESG regulatory preparedness
Developing comprehensive ESG due diligence frameworks used by investment teams globally
Advising transaction teams on sustainability risks and opportunities in live deals
Co-leading quarterly engagement with portfolio companies on sustainability strategy and implementation
Spearheading the Berlin ESG Summit, bringing together 40+ investment leaders to accelerate climate innovation
Creating and delivering ESG training programs that have upskilled 400+ investment professionals
Journey & Evolution
My path to climate innovation strategy has been shaped by diverse experiences across policy, research, and consulting. Each role has added a crucial perspective to my understanding of systems change:
Strategic Advisory & Innovation
At Urbanomy (EDF), I led urban decarbonization projects using advanced modeling and agent-based simulations, working directly with cities and organizations to implement climate solutions. This work deepened my understanding of how emerging technologies can transform built environments.
Systems Analysis & Implementation
At AECOM, I managed £850,000+ in complex climate resilience projects for institutions like the World Bank and EBRD, learning to navigate the intersection of policy, finance, and technology. This experience taught me how to translate innovative ideas into actionable strategies.
Research & Knowledge Translation
My time at the Stockholm Environment Institute focused on climate adaptation and urban systems, contributing to their global knowledge platform. This foundation in research and analysis continues to inform my approach to evaluating climate technologies and investment opportunities.
Thought Leadership
I believe in the power of sharing insights and fostering dialogue. Contributions include:
Guest lecturing at UCL's Bartlett School of Planning on integrating climate risk in strategic planning
Lead authorship of the Global Center for Adaptation's Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Officer Handbook
Co-authoring the Committee on Climate Change's report on behaviors and climate risks
Long-listed finalist for Economist Open Future’s 2019 essay contest.
Education & Continuous Learning
MSc Environmental Change and Management, University of Oxford (Claudia Comberti Scholar)
BA Environmental Science and Policy, Duke University (magna cum laude)
Currently pursuing CFA's Climate Risk, Valuation, and Investment Certificate (exp. March 2024)
Economics studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS
Beyond the Office
Outside my professional work, I explore systems change through different lenses - whether that's making music (under Part Time Witch Records) or writing about societal transformation (at Undoing). These creative outlets inform my approach to innovation and help me think differently about complex challenges. Fellow, Global Leadership Initative at the Oxford Character Project.
