Urbanomy

August 2021 - July 2022

Principal Consultant - Decarbonisation

At Urbanomy, we help clients decarbonise their built environment portfolios, assets, and operations. We’re a subsidiary of EDF Energy Group, and we leverage EDF’s extensive experience in R&D to create bespoke modelling tools for support our clients reach their net-zero targets. We’ve brought together proptech and consultancy to help our clients reach this goal.

At Urbanomy, I co-lead our business development in the UK (and occasionally the Middle East) and also contribute to project management and technical delivery. This includes strategizing how to tailor our technology offerings to the evolving needs of our clients in the face of a changing climate and associated regulation and voluntary commitments (think meeting SBTi / CRREM / GRESB / PCAF / TCFD standards).

As a business developer, I enjoy making new connections with people working towards the same goal of a just climate transition. I take pleasure in gaining a better understanding of the perspectives that different stakeholders bring to their work, and how we can leverage all of our skills for the best outcome.

As a technical deliverer, I use our bespoke programmes to build future scenarios of clients’ assets, developments, or operations to identify the key interventions (incl. costs, benefits, and business models) that will take them to net zero.

AECOM

January 2019 - August 2021

Senior Consultant - Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resilience Practice

I worked to devise cross-sectoral urban resilience strategies in cities in the EMEA and APAC regions, including Amman, Jordan; Batumi, Georgia; and several municipalities in Turkey and Morocco. For these projects, our clients include the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank. I also acted as Project Manager and Climate Finance Specialist for our work with the Global Center on Adaptation, where we are devising GCA's flagship training certification for Climate Resilient Infrastructure Officers.

I’ve also worked with the UK Committee on Climate Change conducting primary and secondary research on autonomous adaptation to climate change.

Throughout my projects within the team, I developed and co-facilitated stakeholder engagement workshops and interface with high-level officials in each of the project locations. I was also semi-finalist for AECOM’s internal Global Challenge, which taps into the entrepreneurial spirit of the industry’s brightest minds to identify original ideas, elevate innovations, spark positive change, and enhance the success of our clients.

I also supported business development and the creation of our high-level team strategy and service offerings.

Lawyer’s Committee for Better Housing

August 2016 - August 2017

Outreach and Policy Manager

Lawyers' Committee for Better Housing (LCBH) is the only non-profit law firm in the Chicago area that focuses solely on low and moderate income renters in the private housing market. LCBH empowers truly disadvantaged renters, prevents wrongful eviction, and fights sub-standard living conditions to ensure all our Chicago neighbors can have a safe and decent place to live.

My work at LCBH was part of a year-long service placement through the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program. I designed and implemented a client referral system, increasing our reach from 600 to 3000 potential clients per annum. I planned On the Table: Tools to Create Affordable, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities which brought together 30+ non-profits, sustainable architects, and urban planners to map visions for Chicago communities and discuss implementation strategies; compiled action items into a deliverable. I also collaborated with the Chicago Department of Public Health to implement a proactive rental inspection program.
